Research interests, Publications, etc.:

Process safety, risk analysis, process intensification, heat transfer, continuing engineering education. Published/ presented over one hundred twenty papers. Authored/ edited 6 books. Participated in conferences and delivered seminars worldwide, including at the World Bank. Keynote Lecture UNESCO Conference, Paris. Member, Editorial Board, Process Safety and Environmental Protection, UK, Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries (Elsevier, Netherlands), Int. Journal of Oil, Gas and Coal Technology (Inderscience, Switzerland). Evaluated PhD theses, research proposals, faculty performance for promotion for universities in Australia, Malaysia, India, Nigeria, Finland and Oman. Successfully organised an International Conference ‘Bhopal Gas Tragedy and its Effects on Process Safety’, December 1-3, 2004, I.I.T., Kanpur with participation from 26 countries. Conducted short courses in India, Oman, Finland

Merit Scholarship all 5 years at IIT Kanpur during B. tech studies. Best Outgoing Student and Best Project Awards in Chemical Engineering (IIT Kanpur); University Fellowships at the Universities of Michigan and Pennsylvania, USA ; Hutchinson Medal, Institution of Chemical Engineers, U.K. for Best Paper published in their journal in ‘02 (Jointly with Dr. David Edwards).
