It is indeed a great pleasure and a matter of great pride that the ‘Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology’ has been conferred the status of an "Institute of National Importance" through an Act of Parliament passed on 20th December 2007. The Institute is starting its maiden academic programs in the academic year 2008-09.

RGIPT is uniquely placed in its chosen area of activities. The promoters of RGIPT leading Indian Oil PSUs (IOC, HPCL, BPCL, ONGC, GAIL and OIL) - are globally recognized and respected for their impeccable performance records. They are expected to provide faculty support to the Institute on a continual basis. The Oil Industry Development Board is also a promoter of the Institute and is providing capital development support along with the Government of India.

Prospective students of MBA in Petroleum &Energy Management would find this academic program as a feather in their cap for a bright and glorious career as a PETROCRAT. The program structure, curriculum design, pedagogy, evaluation and grading will provide students a deeper insight in developing skills in enhancing their knowledge base in the core areas of Management. The students shall be given extensive training in various areas of specialization through electives, thereby providing a wide array of career opportunities in the Oil & Gas sector covering entire hydrocarbon value chain.
