Joint Ph D Programmes under IndianOil-CSIR-RGIPT (ICRGI) and Hindustan Petroleum-RGIPT (HPRGI)

Even Semester, Academic Year 2022-23 (January Session)


Admissions open for the Ph D Programmes at RGIPT, Jais for Even Semester, Academic Year 2022-23 (January Session)  to enroll under the following categories:

  • Indian Oil-CSIR-RGIPT (ICRGI) Research Fellowship
  • Hindustan Petroleum-RGIPT (HPRGI) Research Fellowship
  • Quality Improvement Programme (QIP)

Indian Oil-CSIR-RGIPT (ICRGI) Research Fellowship (Seats: 02)

Fellowship

  • JRF: Rs. 38,750/-
  • SRF: Rs. 43,750/-
HRA/Accommodation
  • HRA will be payable as per the CSIR/DST/RGIPT norms and as per the location of the station, including an additional 25% of the base fellowship will be payable by IOCL. However, no HRA will be admissible to the ICRGI research fellow, if the research fellow is availing the hostel facility of RGIPT or IOCL.
Contingency Grant
  • Rs. 20,000/- per year per student will be paid.
Special Grant
  • Rs. 3,000/- one-time grant per student at the end of the project for thesis preparation/report writing etc.
Medical Facility
  • Comprehensive medical facility before joining the fellowship for working at IOCL laboratories. Annual premium corresponding to mediclaim policy of Rs. 3.00 lacs claimable amount will be paid from contingency grant against submission of documents.

Tenure of Fellowship/Ph D Programme

The maximum period of four years, however, it can further be extended by another year (5th year) subject to the formal approval of the Director (R&D) & IOCL. The total tenure for the fellowship (as JRF plus SRF) shall not exceed five years.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

Eligibility
  • Candidates who have qualified CSIR-NET/GATE national-level test shall be eligible.
  • GATE score should not be more than 5 years old and the candidate should not have yet registered anywhere for their Ph D to avail the fellowship.
  • The minimum CPI/CGPA in M E / M Tech should be at least 7.5 on a 10-point scale or equivalent.
  • If the qualifying degree is Integrated M Tech from an IIT with a minimum CPI/CGPA of 8.0 on a 10-point scale, the student is exempted from the requirement of GATE score.
Selection
  • ICRGI research fellow for Ph D will be selected as per RGIPT selection criterion adopted by respective departments in consultation with IOCL.

Terms and Conditions

  • ICRGI fellow will be carrying out research at IOCL or at RGIPT as per the need of the project as mutually agreed by Supervisor/Co-supervisor.
  • One Scientist of IOCL shall be the Co-supervisor (as per the guidelines of RGIPT) and/or member of RPEC for each registered candidate.
  • The project work to be carried out by the ICRGI fellow shall be jointly identified by the Supervisor/Co-supervisor from RGIPT & IOCL within the identified areas of research.
  • ICRGI fellow shall attend the classes and complete the coursework as per the rules of RGIPT.
  • Students will not have any lien for absorption to the services of IOCL & RGIPT.
  • RGIPT/IOCL shall jointly review the “Progress Report” on semester basis and send a “Technical Progress Report” on the project every semester to IOCL Co-supervisor.
  • ICRGI research fellow leaves in between without completing the Ph D research work, RGIPT shall inform IOCL.
