Alumni Meet 2025, June 15, 2025 – Minutes of Meeting

A distinguished group of alumni from MBA, M.Tech, and B.Tech programs visited the Energy Institute Bengaluru – a centre of RGIPT - on 15 Jun 2025. The interactive session was chaired by the Hon’ble Director in the presence of faculty members.

Institutional Updates

Institutional Updates
  • Faculty coordinators shared updates on academic programs, research initiatives, institute activities, industry and academia collaborations, alumni recognitions, student achievements, and campus facilities.
Digital Outreach
  • Alumni acknowledged RGIPT’s active social media presence.
  • It was recommended to enhance engagement via LinkedIn and Instagram through regular content and media publications.
Alumni-Student Engagement
  • Alumni suggested a dedicated and user-friendly forum to mentor students, share job openings, and offer career guidance.
  • Faculty highlighted that AlmaConnect is currently used for alumni networking.
  • T&P coordinator acknowledged to integrate these suggestions into the proposed T&P platform, with an end-to-end user profile.
Mentorship and Job Referrals
  • Alumni expressed interest in mentoring students for placements.
  • A formal domain-wise mentorship program will be developed.
Curriculum Enhancements
  • Alumni applauded the course structure of RGIPT. Alumni recommended the inclusion of Data Science, Project Management, and Finance.
  • Alumni also applauded minor courses in UG programs, incorporating multidisciplinary skills.
  • Alumni emphasized that students have better conceptual understanding and real-world technical exposure, specifically in the petroleum & energy domain, in comparison to peers graduating from similar institutions.
  • Faculty briefed alumni about the inclusion of the above-suggested courses in the curriculum
  • Faculty also invited alumni for guest lectures to enhance the industry exposure of students.
Internship embedded curriculum
  • Alumni appreciated the integration of semester-long internships and minor courses in UG programs, citing improved industry exposure and placement prospects.
  • The Director welcomed their feedback and urged Bengaluru-based alumni to extend active support.
Industry Exposure at Bengaluru Campus
  • The initiative to conduct final-year UG classes at Energy Institute, Bengaluru was commended for enhancing industry exposure.
Event Participation
  • Alumni requested timely information about conferences where RGIPT participates, to allow alumni support and involvement.
  • They also encouraged the institute to host regular workshops, seminars, and conferences.
  • They emphasize the need to enhance student participation in technical competitions held by various industries to demonstrate the technical superiority of students and boost the branding of the institute.
  • Faculty briefed about the events organized in the previous year and plans to organize events in the upcoming year.
Training & Placements (T&P)
  • Director requested alumni to actively support the T&P activities of RGIPT.
  • Alumni requested T&P cell to timely approach alumni to explore openings.
Alumni Meetups and Networking
  • Alumni appreciated the event and recommended more frequent in-person and online meets.
  • The Director announced that the next alumni meet is tentatively scheduled for 14 November 2025 at RGIPT Jais campus.
Support for Innovation and Entrepreneurship
  • Alumni offered support for UG/PG research projects, including funding, mentorship, and connecting with industry partners.
  • Faculty encouraged alumni to support student-led start-ups with mentorship and seed funding.
Announcement of Alumni Fund
  • The Director announced the establishment of an Alumni Fund for the collective benefit of students and the institute.
  • The faculty coordinator requested the alumni to contribute to the Alumni Fund.
Announcement of Student Awards
  • The Director also announced the initiation of several awards to recognize students excelling in academia, research, and extracurricular activities.
  • Alumni were invited to contribute financially to support student awards

The alumni expressed heartfelt appreciation for the institute’s growth and commitment to engagement. Faculty acknowledged alumni suggestions and assured continued collaboration.

Upon completion of the interaction, the Honourable Director presented souvenirs to all attendees. The meeting concluded with a formal vote of thanks by the coordinator, followed by the national anthem.
