Dr Koushik is currently working at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering. His research group consists of two postgraduate and four undergraduate students. He has done his B Tech in Chemical Engineering from Heritage Institute of Technology (West Bengal University of Technology), Kolkata. During his M Tech at IIT Kharagpur, he worked on the reaction kinetics and catalyst development and investigated dehydrogenation reaction over zinc-alumina catalyst. In his doctoral work at IIT Kharagpur, he invented various ways of process intensification (in terms of mass transfer) in millimeter-sized channels by simple geometric modifications of test conduit in multiphase systems. He is currently working on CO2 conversions, Multiphase flow systems, Microfluidics, Nanocatalysis, and Biofuels. He has developed various micro and millimeter-sized reactors for process intensification studies. His research work includes various physical and chemical methods for enhancing mass transfer. He has also developed a prototype of continuous flow reactor (CFR) for enhanced biodiesel production. He is also planning to fabricate cost effective simple CFR and Coiled Flow Inverters (CFIs) of glass based materials for application in extraction, biofuels and specialty chemicals. Dr. Biswas has published his works on nanomaterial fabrications, mass transfer, biofuels, and hydrodynamics study in liquid-liquid flow in peer-reviewed journals.
