Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, Jais
Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT), Jais, is an autonomous institution established by Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), GOI. The Institute has been accorded the status of "An Institution of National Importance" along the lines of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) under an Act of Parliament ("Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology Act 2007").
The Institute's mission is to build world-class human resources for India's petroleum and energy sector through Diploma, BBA, B.Tech, IDD, M.Tech, MBA and Ph.D. programs across engineering, sciences, humanities and management.
To supplement its on-campus academic offerings, the RGIPT has established two campuses at Sivasagar, Assam: RGIPT Sivasagar campus, and Bengaluru, Karnataka: RGIPT Bengaluru.
Energy needs more women leading it.
Urja Shakti is RGIPT's national initiative to celebrate women's presence and their contribution in the energy sector. Launched in 2021, it gives young women a platform to explore the sector's technologies, markets and policies — and the 2026 edition marks its fourth year.
Through write-up competition participants develop and pitch original ideas across six energy themes, building the kind of confident, forward-looking thinking the sector needs — and contributing to a wider push for gender equality across energy careers.
