About RGIPT

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT), Jais, is an autonomous institution established by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), GOI. The Institute has been accorded the status of "An Institution of National Importance" along the lines of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) under an Act of Parliament.

The Institute's mission is to build world-class human resources for India's petroleum and energy sector through Diploma, BBA, B.Tech, IDD, M.Tech, MBA and Ph.D. programmes across engineering, sciences, humanities and management.

About Urja Shakti

Urja Shakti is an initiative by RGIPT to celebrate and promote female presence in the Energy Sector. Started in 2021, it provides a platform for young women to explore diverse dimensions of the energy sector, build confidence and become future leaders and entrepreneurs through knowledge, innovation and impactful ideas.

"Urja" represents Energy and "Shakti" represents Feminine Power. The Essay Contest for School Students extends this mission to Class 11 & 12 students at the very start of their journey into the energy sector.

Eligibility

Who can participate

Open for female students in the following categories.

01 Category 01

Class 11 or 12

Female students currently studying in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM).

02 Category 02

Recently Passed Class 12

Passed Class 12 in 2026 with PCM and not enrolled in any Diploma/UG programme are also eligible.

03 Age Limit

20 Years

Maximum age as on 31 December 2026.

Only individual participation is accepted — one participant, one essay.
